Education and Values for your children

What we are and what we believe in

We are a family school located in a quiet residential area of Madrid. Our students come from both Spanish and international backgrounds. And we are very proud of the enormous variety of nationalities represented in our school.

Mission

The mission or goal of Numont School is to provide a learning environment in which all students feel happy, safe and confident, and in which each child acquires knowledge, skills and understanding to the best of his or her ability.

All of this in an environment that fosters interest in others and a sense of self-esteem. The idea is for our children to maximize their academic, social, artistic and athletic achievements.

Values

We strive to create a family-like, joyful and stimulating environment where children can be happy and enjoy the learning necessary to achieve their goals.

We put the focus on the individual, so that all children, regardless of their strengths and weaknesses, color, creed or gender, feel valued and able to develop their potential to the fullest.

We try to ensure that each child receives the individual attention he/she needs and can bring out the best version of him/herself.

We build confidence and self-esteem through a positive and healthy attitude towards learning.

EARLY YEARS -INFANT

In the Nursery and Reception classes our children are introduced to a stimulating school life where enjoyment is the main ingredient of a program that initially teaches through play. The school day offers children a variety of hands-on and creative activities and develops oral, literacy and numeracy skills, as well as emphasizing independence and social interaction.

Children participate in individual, small group and whole class activities that are tailored to their learning needs. Activities are planned around thematic themes and we incorporate cultural activities and festivals that are important to our families.

PRIMARY

The Numont curriculum has been designed within the framework established by the 1988 Education Reform Act, but adapted to the ministerial needs and requirements of a British international school in Spain. The objectives of the curriculum are:

  • To promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of our students.
  • prepare our students for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life in a rapidly changing technological, multicultural and global society.

The following are the key subjects taught in primary school: English; Mathematics; Science; Art Design; Music; History; Geography; Computer Science; Physical Education; Personal and Social Health Education; Spanish (as a first language) and French (as a second language).

SECONDARY

The British curriculum provides students with an introduction to the essential knowledge they need to be educated citizens. It introduces students to the best of what has been thought and said; and helps generate an appreciation of human creativity and achievement.

In addition, it provides a core knowledge framework around which teachers can develop exciting and stimulating lessons to promote the development of students’ knowledge, understanding and skills as part of a broader school curriculum.
